1863 The Society for the encouragement and revival of the Ancient and National Music of Old Scotland stages a noisy bagpipe contest before 600 spectators in Charlottetown. Oldtimer Donald McFadyen finishes third -- with a 10 shilling bonus for wearing the kilt. 1860 The Dundas Rum Riot. When a drunken crowd disrupts the trial of an unlicensed American rum-seller, a battle royal erupts between the local Sons of Temperance and the tipplers. Demon Rum wins the battle -- but loses the war. The unlicensed seller is shut down.

Eptek Art & Culture Centre offers regional and Prince Edward Island exhibits year round. Showcases include themes ranging from history to art with exhibits changing regularly.

Winter months offer travel films once a week and a book
club, with a monthly selection and all are welcome.
