1919 Cardigan merchant John A. Macdonald's attempt to resurrect the long-dead Island shipbuilding industry attracts a lot of attention. A large crowd watches the launch of the three-masted schooner Barbara Macdonald, his second vessel in as many years. She costs $30,000. Six weeks later she is lost off the coast of Newfoundland on her maiden voyage.

Eptek Art & Culture Centre

Eptek Art & Culture Centre offers regional and Prince Edward Island exhibits year round. Showcases include themes ranging from history to art with exhibits changing regularly.

Winter months offer travel films once a week and a book
club, with a monthly selection and all are welcome.
