1853 Philadelphia's Academy of Natural Sciences announces the acquisition of the fossil skull of Bathygnathus borealis. It's an Islander -- about 285 million years old. Found by well- diggers in French River, it was once a 7-9 foot, sail-backed reptile, older even than the dinosaurs.

From the Confederation Bridge

Route 1 to Albany
Then 1A, to Summerside,
Then follow Route 2 to Miscouche,
The Acadian Museum is located on Route 2, in Miscouche, 10 km west of Summerside.

From the Northumberland Ferries:
Follow the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1) to Charlottetown,
Then follow Route 2 West to Summerside,
Continue on Route 2 West to Miscouche,
