1836 Charlottetown shoemaker Wm. Fitzpatrick battles the currency shortage (and uses up his scraps of sheepskin) by issuing leather money redeemable at his office. The only leather notes ever circulated in Canada, they are soon suppressed by the Legislature.

From the Confederation Bridge

Route 1 to Albany
Then 1A, to Summerside,
Then follow Route 2 to Miscouche,
The Acadian Museum is located on Route 2, in Miscouche, 10 km west of Summerside.

From the Northumberland Ferries:
Follow the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1) to Charlottetown,
Then follow Route 2 West to Summerside,
Continue on Route 2 West to Miscouche,
