Eptek Art & Culture Centre - Summer 2024 Call for Proposals
CALL FOR PROPOSALS - ‘AS THE CROW FLIES’
Lady Slipper Rug Hooking Guild in collaboration with Eptek Art & Culture Centre
** SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUBMITTED PROPOSALS. SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THEIR ACCEPTANCE BY DECEMBER 15, 2023 **
Artists are invited to submit their work to a new call for entries for a group exhibit to be on display at Eptek Art & Culture Centre in Summer 2024. Submissions should be original artworks that connect to the exhibition theme of ‘As the Crow Flies’ – featuring and/or inspired by crows, or anything that a crow might see from their perspective (e.g., a bird’s eye view).
We welcome submissions from artists at any stage of their career. All mediums will be considered (with the exception of photography), and preference will be given to artworks that have not been displayed previously. Multiple submissions are encouraged, but final selection is limited. Although we will do our absolute best to accept all submissions, space is limited and the organizing committee will select pieces on the basis of excellence in technique, use of materials, and design, as well as those that will build a cohesive exhibit that best fits the theme.
Eptek Art & Culture Centre is committed to equal opportunities, and we encourage applicants who identify as Indigenous, members of visible minorities, LGBTQ2SIA+, and persons with disabilities to apply and self-identify in their application.
Deadline to apply: November 30 2023, at midnight.

ABOUT THE PARTNERS:
Founded in 1981, the Lady Slipper Rug Hooking Guild has played a major role in breathing new life into the ‘old world’ art of rug hooking and has taught and encouraged new generations of rug hookers. The Guild meets regularly at the Lefurgey Cultural Centre in Summerside, and have had numerous exhibits, including: “This is My Island: Hooking What We Love” (2013), “Now and Then” (2021), “Life, Trees, and Me” (2022), and, most recently, “Van Gogh in Wool” (2023).
Eptek Art & Culture Centre is an exhibition facility and community hub that features rotating exhibitions of art, fine craft, history, science, and culture. Also on site is a gift shop featuring Island art, fine craft, and books on Island themes, as well as a permanent exhibition on the history of Summerside. Eptek Centre is one of the seven sites of the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation.
