PEI Museum Heritage Awards
Nominations are now closed for the 2023 Heritage Awards
The PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation Heritage Awards are presented each year to individuals or groups in recognition of their contribution to heritage on Prince Edward Island. If you think you know someone who deserves a Heritage Award, we would love to hear from you!
The deadline for nominations was December 9, 2022.
There are three ways for you to nominate a candidate:
- Submit a nomination form online
- Submit a printable PDF form via mail or in-person
- Submit a scan of the printable PDF via e-mail
This year, you can complete a nomination form entirely online!
Nomination instructions are included with the forms. Please make sure you fill out all address and contact information or your nomination cannot be accepted.
Mail-in and in-person nominations
If you prefer to mail your nomination form, or to deliver it in person, simply print out a PDF of our form:
Please make sure to fill out all information requested in the form, particularly address and contact information. Without proper contact information, the nomination cannot be accepted.
Once you have filled out the form, either mail it to or drop it off at the following address:

Please mark your envelope with "Attn: Heritage Awards Nomination." If you are dropping off your form, please check Beaconsfield Historic House's hours of business to ensure that a staff member will be here to accept it.

Heritage Award Categories:
HERITAGE RECOGNITION AWARDS Awarded to recognize individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the knowledge and understanding of any aspect of the heritage of Prince Edward Island. Heritage includes human and natural history, and activities may aim to preserve architectural heritage, folklore, culture, archives, archeology, genealogy and history in all their forms. These awards recognize original and notable contributions to the preservation or interpretation of important aspects of Prince Edward Island's heritage.
NATURAL HERITAGE ACTIVITY Awarded to an individual who has made a significant volunteer contribution to the preservation or promotion of the natural heritage of Prince Edward Island.
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR Awarded to a volunteer(s) who has made a significant contribution to the preservation or promotion of the heritage of Prince Edward Island.
YOUTH VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR Awarded to a volunteers(s) under the age of 25 who has made a significant contribution to the preservation or promotion of the heritage of Prince Edward Island.
MARY CORNFOOT BREHAUT AWARD Awarded to an individual or group for outstanding contribution to genealogy and family history on Prince Edward Island.
IRENE ROGERS AWARD Awarded to an individual or group for outstanding, long-time contribution to the architectural heritage of Prince Edward Island.
WENDELL BOYLE AWARD Awarded to a group or individual for an outstanding contribution in a performance medium, such as music or theatre, that highlights or interprets the history of Prince Edward Island.
BOYDE BECK MEMORIAL AWARD Awarded to a group or individual for outstanding contributions through the sharing of oral history and storytelling of Prince Edward Island.
PUBLICATION OF THE YEAR Awarded to an individual or group responsible for a publication that made a significant contribution to the understanding of any aspect of the heritage of Prince Edward Island, in a well-documented, well-written, and well-presented manner.
AWARD OF HONOUR Presented to an individual or institution for outstanding contributions and demonstration of a high level of achievement in the areas of research, education, or preservation as they relate to the human or natural history of Prince Edward Island. The Award of Honour recognizes an individual's lifetime or career achievements, or an institution's consistently high level of contributions over long periods of time.
