Basin Head Fisheries Museum
- Marine Protected Area Tours are available Thursday to Monday until September 28! Join us for the rare opportunity to experience one of Canada's Marine Protected Areas. Did we mention the tour ends with ice cream?
Beaconsfield Historic House
- Beaconsfield by Candlelight 2026 - Experience Beaconsfield Historic House as the sun goes down and the shadows grow long. Join us for an intimate visit that focuses on the more macabre side of Victorian life (and death). Hear local tales of 19th century true crime, meet the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation's most haunted artifact, Wheelie, and peer into Beaconsfield Historic House's darkest corners.
- Guided House Tours - The exterior grounds can be roamed freely. To view the interior, you MUST take our guided tour – the interior of the house cannot be roamed freely. Guided House Tours are offered every 30 minutes in July & August, beginning at 9:30 AM; the final tour of the day begins at 4:00 PM.
- The Bog Tour is back! This FREE 45-minute walking tour is offered out of Beaconsfield Historic House.

We recommend calling Beaconsfield Historic House at 902-368-6603 ahead of arrival to ensure tour availability. Fall weather can quickly cancel a walking tour in Charlottetown!
Elmira Railway Museum
- Electric Train - the train trail is 1.8 km long, winding through a wooded trail alongside the Confederation Trail. You will be able to take in the smells, sounds, and sights of the gorgeous plants and trees, numerous woodland animals; you’ll also get a great view of a 40-foot tunnel, a covered bridge, other local scenery – and who knows what else you may glimpse in the woods!

- Speeder Car & Trolley - take a ride into the past along the original Elmira rail stop on our Speed Car & Trolley. Along the way, turn rail switches for the speeder car and trolley to change the direction you’re heading!
Did you know? Our Speeder Car is a piece of history itself! It was previously used as a service vehicle for CN railway as a maintenance vehicle. The onboard switches were used to move the rail, enabling the car to move on to different rail to change the direction of the train car.

“Women’s Work: Doing What Needs to be Done” Main Gallery Exhibition (July 2 - September 27)
We are excited to bring you our next Foundation exhibition this summer! “Women’s Work: Doing What Needs to be Done” is an interactive exhibition developed by Samantha Kelly, Curator of History for the PEI Museum & Heritage Foundation, and on display at the Eptek Art & Culture Centre from July 2 – September 27th. The exhibition will utilize many items from our historic object collection.
This engaging exhibition invites visitors of all ages on a journey to discover how women living on this land have been contributing their labour and skills since the earliest days of human settlement.
But how do we even define women’s work, which can represent a broad range of essential contributions made over millennia? What activities do these words reflect?
The answer is that women’s work is everywhere. It is in the fields and on the docks and in the farmyards and shipyards. It is in the shops and businesses, and inside every home. Women’s labour can be both unpaid and paid; visible and invisible; skilled and unskilled; dismissed and celebrated.
Contemplate these contributions while exploring the “Women’s Work” exhibition on display from July 2 – September 27th
There will be a formal Launch Event on Sunday, July 12 at Eptek Centre from 2:00 – 4:00 PM
The exhibition includes interactive elements:
Interactive Community Weaving Installation - "Weaving Her Story"
Visitors will be invited to participate in a collaborative textile installation by contributing the names of women who have had a meaningful impact on their lives. These contributions will be inscribed onto fabric strips and woven into a large-scale, evolving art piece. This “living” installation will remain on view throughout the duration of the Women’s Work exhibition, continuously growing as a collective tribute to women’s influence, resilience, and legacy within our communities.
Live Craft Demonstrations & Interpretation
Throughout the exhibition, trained interpreters will be present within the gallery space, offering live demonstrations of traditional and contemporary craft techniques. These facilitators will actively engage with visitors, providing historical context, answering questions, and enhancing the overall educational experience through hands-on interpretation.

- Kids' Halloween Hauntacular - Get ready for a spectacularly haunted Halloween experience with PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation! Staff at Orwell Corner Historic Village are hard at work performing the summoning ritual to bring the “Kids’ Halloween Hauntacular” back from the great beyond for another year of tricks and treats, frights and delights!
