Betty Jeffery is Librarian Emerita at the University of Prince Edward Island. Born in Summerside and raised in Alberton, she attended Acadia University, receiving her undergraduate degree in history, before going on to graduate studies at McGill in the field of library and information studies. Throughout her career she has been actively involved in scholarly endeavours and contributing to her profession, university, and broader community in various ways. Her Island roots go back to the eighteenth century, and she is proud of her English and Acadian heritage. She has been passionate about Island history and genealogy from an early age, discovering and celebrating the lives of those who came before.
