Exhibits
"A Walk in the Wood" by Steve Leard; On Display March 3 - April 9 (Main Gallery).
Local artist Steve Leard will present a collection of his woodworking pieces, sketches, and hooked rugs in his exhibition, “A Walk in the Wood.” A veteran who returned to PEI in 1992, Leard transitioned from a career in the military to a three-decade exploration of form, function, and design. This exhibit will showcase Leard's intricately carved heirloom boxes, miniature houses, walking canes, wind catchers, black and white sketches, and rugs. Leard's imagery features mythical and surrealist creatures, inspired by Biomechanical artists like H.R. Giger. “A Walk in the Wood,” displayed in Eptek's main gallery from March 3rd until April 9th, continues his tradition of merging imaginative storytelling with traditional craftsmanship.

Craft Demonstration:
Steve Leard will be onsite at Eptek Art & Culture Centre to offer a demonstration of his wood carving art process on April 8th at 1 pm. This is an opportunity to meet the artist, see some of his process, and you might even get to try your own hand at carving. While there you can also check out his exhibit featuring many carved pieces using his own designs, and see his sketches that have inspired them.
Main Gallery Exhibition (April 19 - May 31):
Cozy up for the PEI Modern Quilt Guild’s newest exhibition, “Beyond the Block: Celebrating 10 Years of the PEI Modern Quilt Guild.” “Beyond the Block” will be on display in Eptek Centre’s main gallery from April 19th to May 31st. The PEI Modern Quilt Guild (PEIMQG) was formed in 2015 by a small group of Modern Quilting enthusiasts with an aim to create and celebrate Modern quilts and quilting on the Island. Now with over 40 members, the PEIMQG gathers monthly to motivate, inspire, and educate each other as they work on individual and collaborative projects.
In this celebration of the Guild's first decade, you will see examples of many Modern Quilting techniques, including bold colours, maximalism (and minimalism), improvisation, asymmetry, and more! A collection of works not to be missed, inspiring and captivating for quilters and non-quilters alike.

Meet the Artists (April 19):
Members of the PEI Modern Quilt Guild will be onsite at Eptek Art & Culture Centre on Sunday, April 19th from 1 to 3 pm to celebrate their exhibition, “Beyond the Block: Celebrating 10 Years of the PEI Modern Quilt Guild.” This will be an opportunity to meet the quilters, view their works, and learn more about their processes. It will also coincide with the April Makers’ Session, so feel free to bring an art or craft project along, too, if you so choose. This Meet the Artisan event is free to attend, and everyone is welcome.

Lobby Exhibition (April 7 - April 26)
"Two Magical Journeys," a collection of artworks by Sheila Forsyth, will be on display in the Eptek LOBBY from April 7th until April 26th. In the exhibition, Sheila shares the original artwork from her two newest books. “A Whale of a Tale: A Magical Journey,” showcases her printmaking techniques to create the Illustrations, and it featured silk-dyed art for the cover image. For “By a Candle’s Warmth,” she’s used oil pastel on suede matboard, giving the pieces a softer, more whimsical effect. Sheila is a writer, an artist, a novelist, a playwright, children’s’ curriculum creator, musician, and a scientist. She brings her love of nature, science and story into her work. In addition to the prints and other art pieces used in the books, a selection of pieces that show her printmaking and art processes will also be on display, as well as a felted piece by Vivian Aho that was inspired by the story in one of the books.

Reading of new children’s books [family-friendly] (April 26):
Bring the children to Eptek Art & Culture Centre for a book reading on Sunday, April 26th at 1 pm. Sheila Forsyth will be onsite to offer a reading of her two newly released children’s books, “A Whale of a Tale: A Magical Journey,” and “By a Candle’s Warmth.” Sheila will be available to share insight into her art process, as well. Sheila has written and illustrated both books, and the original artwork will be on display during the event, and in Eptek’s lobby from April 7th to 26th. The books will be available for purchase, and book signing is available. This event is free to attend, and everyone is welcome.
